Gotta get more consistent
It’s been a while. I know I’ve said this now for the last couple entries as well. Have to get more consistent. Life’s been going quite well, all things considered. My Robinhood account has gone absolutely nuts over the last month.
Bitcoin has been absolutely crushing. Doesn’t hurt that I bought a bunch of shares of 2 bitcoin mining stocks and some shares of another company that put around 70,000 bitcoin on their balance sheet. The increase in price gives these companies sitting on a lot of bitcoin a ton of free cash flow. If your familiar with bitcoin fundamentals at all these investments seemed like no brainers.
The block reward halving occurred in May of 2020. This cut the amount of new bitcoin being introduced to the marketplace in half. Prior to May the amount of bitcoin being mined per day was a little less than 2000. Going forward the amount of bitcoin mined per day is around 900. The next halving will occur in 2024, which will cut the mined bitcoin per day to 450, and should prompt the next bull run. It’s also possible that eventually these simple bull and bear markets, determined by halvings, will break down and won’t be so easily predicted. For now, however, the large majority of investors are unaware of this information. As bitcoin continues to grow more investors will become aware and will reduce the competitive advantage of this knowledge.
I just started a new strength program as well. I sort of devised it myself. I took the 5 workouts from the 5×5 program and changed it slightly. I’ve been doing the push and pull workouts twice a week. The push days are squats, overhead presses, and bench presses. The pull days are squats, deadlifts, and barbell rows. Instead of only doing 5 sets of each, however, I’ve been doing 10 and a different amount of reps (based on the weight) for each set. I usually work up to a top set single rep for my third or fourth set. Today I hit a 295 squat for the first time so I was very excited about that. At the end of my pull days I do 10 sets of pullups, which is quite hard after doing 30 sets of other exercises. At the end of my push days I do 10 sets of dips and pushups. I’ve gotten a lot stronger while only doing this for a month so I’m pretty excited.
I’ve also been running on the 3 days where I don’t lift. I’ve been running 7 miles each time which usually takes me around an hour. I know this probably isn’t optimal for making strength gains but I love it and keeps my cardio in shape. It also helps me hit my 10,000 step goal quite easily.
All in all things have been going pretty well so I can’t really complain. These strength gains have really helped me be more optimistic and increase my passion for everyday things. I’m pretty happy man things are going well.
