New PR’s

Just got back from a good pull day. Set new PR’s for my squat and deadlift. Hit a squat single of 295 and then a deadlift of 365. I decided that my 2021 resolution would be to try to hit 1000 pounds for my triple. My bench press is terrible though so that is where I have the most work ahead of me. My max at the bench is 175. Hopefully I can get that up to 225 before the year ends. 4 plates on my deadlift, 3 plates on my squat, and 2 plates on my bench would be pretty awesome. I’m pretty close to 3 plates on my squat. I think I hit that on benchmark on my squat first. Currently my total is 835. I have work to do.

My dad got mad at me yesterday. I came home to do my laundry, as I do every Friday, and he immediately started to talk about the Capitol getting raided during the week. I defended the people raiding the Capitol, saying that Trump is spineless. He tapped into a real group of people in the US who have been disenfranchised (through money printing, excessive regulation, and creative destruction) and manipulated them. He let them run wild with these fantasies that he was playing 4d chess. He wasn’t/isn’t. He just wanted to “win” and letting that group of people run wild with how he was their her was the only way that would happen. Fuck Trump and I’m glad the headquarters for professional liars and war criminals got desecrated. (I stole that line from one of my favorite economists Bob Murphy)

Needless to say my Dad didn’t agree with me. He’s very worried that my radical views will lead me to either being ostracized by polite society or lead me to doing something violent. The first may be true but the second definitely isn’t. I believe firmly in the non-aggression principal. I won’t even eat animals. I wish no unnecessary harm to people. I’m sure there are some people who think like me who would say that physically assaulting politicians (based on the politics they endorse) is justified because what they endorse is aggression. I don’t necessarily disagree but would never pursue this sort of justice. I don’t think it gets us anywhere.

The best thing someone can do is opt out. Buy bitcoin and don’t feed the beast. Try your best to avoid paying taxes without doing anything illegal. Tax evasion isn’t immoral but it also isn’t practical. Ask Irwin Schiff how all of those legal justifications he presented in his tax protests worked. The government doesn’t care. You’re playing by their rules in a court they fund. You’re playing a game down by 20 points to start. This is the same thing I would say to right-wing protestors who are claiming that the election was fraudulent. You’re probably right, but it doesn’t matter.
