Lunch Walk
Everyday Charles leaves his building at exactly 12 o’clock. Some days he takes a walk over to Shop Rite to stock up on snacks. Some days he walks over to the park and does a couple laps there. Today was a park day. His snack shelf at work was all set. He had gone to Shop Rite yesterday and purchased a loaf of bread. The loaf would last him a 3-4 business days. Charles started purchasing the higher protein bread recently because he was working out and wanted to put on some muscle.
It was a hot day and he was still wearing jeans to work. He had just purchased some nicer shorts at the mall but he needed to ease his boss into the idea of wearing shorts to work. He had to lay some groundwork first. Next conversation he had with his boss he’d bring it up. He walked out the front door and the sun was shining brightly in his face. He put in his headphones and threw on a playlist that he had listened to far too many times. “Maybe I’ll switch it up.” He thought to himself. He looked quickly through his phone but then got distracted and put it back into his pocket.
It usually took him around 10 minutes to get to the park. He only had to cross one busy intersection. Cars would often disregard the crosswalk and blow right through so he had to wait for the right time or the right citizen to let him through. Charles felt odd if he didn’t get outside to walk everyday. His work consisted of him sitting behind a computer so getting up and being active at some point was necessary. Physical and mental health were very important things for him and that daily lunch walk were essential for both.
